From Consultation to Move-In
We Handle Everything
THE PROCESS
Building an ADU should be exciting, not exhausting. AmerADU's streamlined 5-step process takes the stress out of home expansion. We manage everything from your initial site assessment to final installation, so you know exactly what to expect at every stage.
1
Step 1: Free Consultation & Site Assessment
We evaluate your property, discuss your goals, and determine which ADU model fits your lot, your budget, and your timeline. No commitment required. A site visit allows us to assess soil conditions, utility access, setback compliance, and any site prep requirements such as grading or retaining walls. We flag issues early so nothing becomes a surprise later.
No cost - No obligation | Zoning review included | County-specific guidance

Step 2: Design Selection & Permitting
You select your ADU model (AS750 two-bedroom or AS540 one-bedroom) and customize your finishes. Our team prepares and submits your permit application to the local planning and building department. We handle all required documentation: site plans, architectural drawings, energy compliance reports (Title 24), and structural engineering documents. Under California law, jurisdictions must respond to complete ADU permit applications within 60 days — and we submit complete, accurate applications to maximize your chances of first-time approval.
We prepare all documents | 60-day state mandate | HOA coordination if needed

Step 3: Factory Build & Quality Assurance
While your permit is being processed, your unit enters production in our California factory. Factory-built construction eliminates weather delays, reduces material waste, and allows for rigorous quality inspections at every stage that would be impossible on a traditional job site. Each unit is framed with steel (not wood) for fire resistance and structural durability, insulated with both interior and exterior insulation to CALGreen standards, and fitted with pre-wired electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems before ever reaching your property. An independent HERS inspector certifies each unit before delivery.

Step 4: Delivery & On-Site Installation
Once your site is prepped (foundation poured, utilities stubbed to the slab), we schedule your delivery. On installation day, our crew delivers and sets your unit. Most installations are completed in a single day. Utility connections, final grading, and exterior cleanup follow over the next few days. From the moment your unit arrives, you can see your investment come to life rapidly and with minimal disturbance to your neighbors and property.
1-Day on-site installation | Crane delivery included | Minimal disruption

Step 5: Final Walkthrough & Move-In Ready
We conduct a complete final walkthrough with you to confirm every detail meets your expectations and the approved plans. We walk through all systems — electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, doors, windows, and finishes — and address any punch list items on the spot. Once your local building inspector completes their final inspection and issues the Certificate of Occupancy, your ADU is officially ready for occupancy.
Typical total timeline: 8–12 weeks from permit approval to move-in.
